Washington Park Shines Bright After Festival of Lights Kickoff
Washington Park Shines brightly with over five million Christmas lights after the kickoff of the Washington Park Festival of Lights Saturday night.
MICHIGAN CITY – A line of cars drove slowly through the Washington Park streets taking in the twinkling of over five million Christmas lights that were lit at 6 p.m. Saturday night during the Washington Park Festival of Lights.
The lights depicted various holiday scenes in bright colors such as Santa Claus riding off in his sleigh pulled by the beloved famous reindeer and other designs such as an outline of a Michigan City fire engine as well as a polar bear tossing a ball.
The sight was spectacular enough to even tempt some drivers to park their cars and brave the cold.
Walking around the park, many visitors posed to take photos with some of the displays and in the beautifully lit gazebo.
The annul tradition, said to be the largest light display in the Midwest, is definitely a must see this year to get int he holiday spirit.
