MICHIGAN CITY, Ind.<\/b> — Officials reported that approximately 250 gallons of gasoline were stolen from a tank located at Patriot Park.<\/p>\n
According to officials, the suspect(s) broke through the fence that encloses the gasoline storage tank and took the fuel.<\/p>\n
Superintendent Kienitz with the Michigan City Parks Department reported the findings at a recent Parks Board meeting stating the theft cost the department $697.50.<\/p>\n
City officials were unable to comment further on the incident as it is currently being investigated by the Michigan City Police.<\/p>\n
The city uses the gasoline stored at Patriot Park to operate city vehicles and lawn and maintenance equipment.<\/p>\n
