{"id":3400,"date":"2018-08-01T13:09:19","date_gmt":"2018-08-01T18:09:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mcjournal.thegraphicgeek.com\/?p=3400"},"modified":"2018-08-01T13:09:19","modified_gmt":"2018-08-01T18:09:19","slug":"man-identified-as-suspect-arrested-for-bank-robberies-in-michigan-city-and-portage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegraphicgeek.com\/demo-mcj\/man-identified-as-suspect-arrested-for-bank-robberies-in-michigan-city-and-portage\/","title":{"rendered":"Man Identified as Suspect Arrested for Bank Robberies in Michigan City and Portage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MICHIGAN CITY, Ind.<\/strong> &#8212;\u00a0 A Michigan City man was identified as the suspect arrested in connection with the robbery of the <a href=\"https:\/\/thegraphicgeek.com\/demo-mcj\/police-search-for-bank-robbery-suspect\/\">First Source Bank in Michigan City<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thegraphicgeek.com\/demo-mcj\/first-source-bank-robbery-suspect-arrested-in-portage\/\">Chase Bank in Portage<\/a> on Tuesday afternoon according to police.<\/p>\n<p>41-year-old Jason Cheek was arrested after Portage Police Officers took him into custody for questioning following the robbery of the Chase Bank in Portage.<\/p>\n<p>While in custody, Michigan City Police detectives, Portage Police detectives, and agents with the FBI questioned Cheek as well as a second 17-year-old suspect.<\/p>\n<p>Information gathered during the questioning led to the arrest of both suspects.<\/p>\n<p>Cheek was additional charged with the robbery of the Chase Bank in Michigan City on June 5th.<\/p>\n<p>Agents with the FBI Merrillville office took charge of the robbery investigations are are continuing to work with local law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Chief Mark Swistek would like to personally thank the FBI, all officers and detectives involved<br \/>\nespecially Detective Corporal Tim Baker and the quick actions of the officers and detectives<br \/>\nfrom Portage Police, bringing this multijurisdictional spree to a safe and successful<br \/>\nconclusion,&#8221;\u00a0Sgt.
