The Michigan City Wolves football team has their sights firmly set on repeating the successes of the past two seasons as they prepare to get the 2019 campaign underway.<\/p>\n
The Wolves collected sectional and regional championship hardware in both 2017 and 2018 and hope to duplicate that feat in 2019…at the very least.<\/p>\n
Under the leadership of head coach Phil Mason, the Wolves start the season at home (Ames Field) on Friday, August 23, against Griffith.<\/p>\n
Michigan City started last season with a 53-0 victory over Griffith.<\/p>\n
The Wolves follow up in weeks two and three against Warsaw and Chesterton, respectively. Warsaw replaces Homewood-Flossmoor on the schedule this season. The Vikings were a nationally ranked team that presented the Wolves with valuable experience heading into conference play last year.<\/p>\n
Any experience the Wolves can gain prior to, and including, conference action will help the team in the newly realigned sectional.<\/p>\n
Among the moves the Indiana High School Athletic Association made included moving DAC rival Valparaiso into the same sectional as the Wolves.<\/p>\n
Joining the City coaching staff this season is receivers coach Brett St. Germain. St from Lake Central where he was the head football coach.<\/p>\n
St. Germain also will be one of three assistant principals at the high school this school year.<\/p>\n
After the loss of senior quarterback Bryce Hayman to graduation, the job will most likely fall to junior Michael Bradford and sophomore Giovanni Laurent. Coach Mason said both are expected to see plenty of play under center this season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
